As its name implies, Bluetooth Driver Installer is a small program that installs a generic driver for your system's Bluetooth adapter. You need a Bluetooth adapter to use your computer with your smartphone, tablet and other Bluetooth-enabled devices, and you need an appropriate driver to allow your system to use its Bluetooth adapter.

For whatever reason, some USB dongles and built-in Bluetooth adapters don't come with installation discs, or you might have misplaced the original installer. This program serves as a handy substitute. At 1.8 megabytes, it's a small utility that you can easily fit onto a USB drive.

It is completely safe and works with most devices and Windows installations. However, there are some compatibility issues, and this driver won't work with particularly obscure Bluetooth devices. The program's website has a list of all known types of Bluetooth hardware that can use the driver.

Although this program doesn't do anything more than apply a well-known patch to allow your Windows system to use a generic Bluetooth driver with all of your devices, it's extremely easy to use, which immediately makes it a better option for most users than the WinDir%\inf\bth.inf method. This freeware utility is much less work. You literally run it once, and after the program enables the driver, you can delete the executable and go about your day.

The program also makes a System Restore point. If your Windows installation starts acting unusual or if you experience any system hangs, crashes or other bugs as a result of the Bluetooth driver, you can use System Restore, a native Windows program, to reverse all of the changes that Bluetooth Driver Installer makes.

Because this is freeware, you shouldn't expect developer support if you can't figure the program out on your own. Apart from this minor quibble, this is a great little program for PC users with Bluetooth devices.
